C23 - ISC Blog Challenge - Tim Holtz Inspired Jewelry!

I was soooo excited when I found out that Innovative Stamp Creation's Blog Challenge for today was to make Tim Holtz inspired jewelry! I used to make jewelry quite a bit, but have not had much time lately, so this was a well needed challenge for me! :)

I decided to focus on Tim's grungeboard for my jewelry, so I made this matching necklace and bracelet set. For the necklace, I painted a small piece of grungeboard with light pink acrylic paint. I then stamped the rose image from Innovative Stamp Creation's Delicate Rose sheet with black palette ink, and then distressed the edges with some tattered rose distress ink. Next, I took one of Tim's square fragment pieces and glued the stamped grungeboard to the back of the fragment. I then added a jewelry connector to the back of the grungeboard and a jump ring to that. Then I strung it on some black leather cord, added some connectors at each end and a fastener to finish it off!

For the bracelet, I got this idea for a leather like cuff bracelet from this blog "Crafted by Us". I thought it would be a prefect match for this necklace. I started with a 1 1/8" strip of grungeboard, painted it with the same pink acrylic paint, stamped the same rose image with more black palette ink and distressed the edges with tattered rose distress ink. I then rounded the corner with a zutter round-it-all 1/2" corner rounder. For the fastener, I took one of the Tim Holtz hitch fastener, punched a 1/8" hole in the end without the rounded corners and placed the fastener over the hole. Then, on the other side of the bracelet, I punched a 1/4" hole for the top portion of the fastener to push through and lock. Cool huh! I really liked this idea...they are very fun and easy to make too!!

I am soooo excited!I I won!!! :)

I am just so excited!! I entered this earring and necklace set in Kitchen Sink Stamps monthly contest and won the category for "anything but a card"! How cool is that!! This month's theme was "turn up the heat" - I definitely turned the heat up on this one...in my oven...and made butterfly charms out of shrinky dinks for my almost 5 year old DD (who thinks I am the best mom ever for making this for her, LOL!!).

To make the charms, I used the two smaller butterflies from their new 3 step butterfly set. I stamped the first step stamp with bashful blue, then I used Stazon blue for the second step stamp, and the third step stamp in black Stazon. I punched a 1/4" hole in the top of the image, cut it out and put them in the oven...and ta-da...out came the fun charms you see before you!. I then paired the charms with these fabulous beads I got at Michael's to finish the ensemble.

It was truly fun to make this for my DD and I am so glad she likes them! Speaking of my DD...here is a picture of her wearing them. She could not wait to put them on and was so excited to get her picture taken with them!
