ODBD September Sneak Peek!!

WOW!! I can not believe it is September already!! Where has the year gone?? Anyway, the first of September marks another new release from Our Daily Bread Designs! For my card today, I have used the new Friends set.
I started by stamping the dragonfly flourished image and sentiment on velum with stazon black. I then placed the vellum over some dragonfly DP from BasicGrey's Wisteria collection. For the ribbon, I decided to heat/burn the edges of some organdy white ribbon to give the ribbon a distressed look. I also distressed all of the card stock edges. The blue background has been dry embossed with SU texturez mini polka dots, and then sponged with blue.

To finish off the card, I added some half pearls and a Tim Holtz grunge board dragonfly painted with dusty concord distress crackle paint and covered in some ice Stickles. Okay, so I think I may have gone a little overboard with all of the dragonflies...Oh well! :)

Check out what some of the bread sticks have created for today! Angie, Chris, Dawn, Deb, Grace, Lorelie, Sandee & Silke

Thanks so much for visiting today, and don't forget to come back on Thursday to see another new creation from ODBD!!

LSC235, WT233, MMSC16 - Vintage Butterfly Gift Card Holder

My dear friend, Wendy is today's hostess for the LSC over on SCS...not only is she hostess today, but today is ALSO her birthday!!! Happy Birthday Wendy!!!!! In honor of her b-day she is challenging us to use some of her favorite things to make a gift card or money holder! What are her favorite things...well if any knows Wendy...you know about her butterfly challenge...she has made 104 cards for her son who has been over seas for two years. Yep! That is one butterfly card a week for two years! What dedication!! So she has challenged us to make sure to use a butterfly on our creation along with one of her favorite SU colors...Chocolate Chip!

I decided to create a gift card holder. You can find all the dimensions on this earlier post I did about a year ago on my blog. I also loved the WT challenge of on SCS yesterday which was to create something with a vintage feel...well I LOVE vintage, so I had to join in on that challenge. I also used the sketch on the from of my gift card from this week's MMSC16.

As you can see...I do not lack anything vintage! The wonderful ornate plate is from Tim Holtz collection. The butterfly is also Tim Holtz...a grungeboard butterfly that I painted with tattered rose distress crackle paint and then sponged with walnut stain distress ink. The DP is Classic K Margo from K and Co. This double sided paper is just perfect for a project like this. In fact, the inside of the DP already had the fun flowers on it, so I did not have to do a thing to decorate the inside of my card!

To finish off the card, I added the sentiment which is from Innovative Stamp Creations Plumeria Flowers sheet, three different fun hot pink fibers, and some antique gold brads.

Thanks so much for visiting today! Have a wonderful weekend!!

Blessed are the Pure in Heart!

Hello, and I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!! I have another card from the Jesus set from Our Daily Bread Designs.

I just love this verse...just perfect for a thank you or thinking of you card! I paired the verse with some Wisteria DP. The colors for the rest of the card was pulled from this piece of DP...I really would have never thought to put Almost Amethyst with Crushed Curry...but I kind of like it!!

To finish off the card, I added some cream half pearls, some cream taffeta ribbon woven through silver eyelets, and a wonderful grunge board flourish inked with almost amethyst craft ink.

Thank so much for visiting today! Hope you have a great weekend!!

C23 - ISC Blog Challenge - Tim Holtz Inspired Jewelry!

I was soooo excited when I found out that Innovative Stamp Creation's Blog Challenge for today was to make Tim Holtz inspired jewelry! I used to make jewelry quite a bit, but have not had much time lately, so this was a well needed challenge for me! :)

I decided to focus on Tim's grungeboard for my jewelry, so I made this matching necklace and bracelet set. For the necklace, I painted a small piece of grungeboard with light pink acrylic paint. I then stamped the rose image from Innovative Stamp Creation's Delicate Rose sheet with black palette ink, and then distressed the edges with some tattered rose distress ink. Next, I took one of Tim's square fragment pieces and glued the stamped grungeboard to the back of the fragment. I then added a jewelry connector to the back of the grungeboard and a jump ring to that. Then I strung it on some black leather cord, added some connectors at each end and a fastener to finish it off!

For the bracelet, I got this idea for a leather like cuff bracelet from this blog "Crafted by Us". I thought it would be a prefect match for this necklace. I started with a 1 1/8" strip of grungeboard, painted it with the same pink acrylic paint, stamped the same rose image with more black palette ink and distressed the edges with tattered rose distress ink. I then rounded the corner with a zutter round-it-all 1/2" corner rounder. For the fastener, I took one of the Tim Holtz hitch fastener, punched a 1/8" hole in the end without the rounded corners and placed the fastener over the hole. Then, on the other side of the bracelet, I punched a 1/4" hole for the top portion of the fastener to push through and lock. Cool huh! I really liked this idea...they are very fun and easy to make too!!

FTTL1 & CC204A - Flourished Checkered Lily

I made this card for both CC204A - Creamy Caramel, Old Olive and Cameo Coral and FTTL1 - Flourishes first Timeless Tuesday challenge, were we were to a flourishes on your card somewhere.

I colored my checkered Lily image from Flourishes with my SU cameo coral and old olive markers. I then sponged the entire image (and all the edges on the card) with close to cocoa. The DP is from K & Company, and it was just perfect for this color challenge! For the flourishes, I used some flourished shaped grungeboard inked with craft cameo coral and creamy caramel. For the final touch on this card, I added some olive colored ribbon behind the image.

ISC Blog Challenge #22!

Today's blog challenge over on the Innovative Stamp Creation's Blog - It's all in the Suitcase!! I made a valentines card for my DH along with a matching tag for this totally adorable suitcase!

For the card, I used the Assemblage stamp set. I stamped the background stamp with some walnut stain distress ink on some pink pirouette paper. I then distressed the background with some sponged walnut stain ink and a Tim Holtz distressing tool.

For the heart, I used a grungeboard heart from the elements package. I covered the heart with some tattered rose crackle paint. Once that dried, I used the heart image from the Assemblage stamp set and stamped in with walnut stain distress ink. I placed the heart on top of a piece of chocolate chip DP and tore and sponged the edges. Then I added a Tim Holtz word key (with the word "heart" on it) over the top of the grungeboard heart.

I then finished off the card with the sentiment (also from Assemblage) which is also distressed and sponged with walnut stain distress ink. Oh! How could I forget the corner embellishments! I used some Tim Holtz brads and washers, and then hammered them a bit to dent them.

For the totally ADORABLE suitcase (which you can also get from ISC), I made a matching tag with the same background stamp with walnut stain distress ink on some more pink pirouette paper. I then added a Tim Holtz key hole backed by some DP, and the sentiment.

Now for the fun part! This adorable suitcase is just the perfect size for a gift card (as you can see here, my DH is getting one from Home Depot...not sure if the gift card is more for him or me since he will probably be buying stuff for the "honey-do" list I have for him, LOL!!) I also added some caramel filled treasure candies for instant gratification! :)

Paper: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Pink Pirouette, Bella Rose DSP

ISC January Release!!!

I have some very exciting news...you may know that I was a spot guest creative architect for Innovative Stamp Creations for the months of November and December...well, I have asked by Betsy to continue on a permanent basis!!! How exciting is that!! What better way to get going then with a couple of projects with the new January release!

The above card was made with the Refections set...love this butterfly!!! When I saw it, I immediately thought of making a suspension card. I started by stamping the image in black, colored it with copic markers, and cut it out (the new largest circle punch from SU punches the whole out of the inner circle perfectly)! I used the canvas image for the background, along with some walnut stain distress ink sponged on the edges. I suspended the sentiment within the circle with some linen twine. I then finished the card off with some so saffron twill from SU.

Card Details:

Paper: So Saffron, Close to Cocoa, Bordering Blue
Ink: Basic Black, Copics, Walnut Stain Distress Ink, Close to Cocoa
Accessories: So Saffron Twill, Linen Twine

I made this 4" x 4" minibook with the AlterIt! set from the minibook series. This is only the second time I have used my bind-it-all, and I am soooo loving it!

The front and back are made with plain grungeboard. I started out by using some Scattered Straw distress crackle paint. Once it was dry, I stamped the corner image with some Pallette Noir ink. I then sponged a little pine needles distress ink on the edges of cover. For the sentiment, I stamped it in black on a piece of white card stock. I then sponged scattered straw and pine needles distress ink over it. Next, I adhered it to some plain grungeboard and cut it out.

For the closure, I used a hinge from a package of elements grungeboard. For a little sparkle, I added some scattered straw distress stickles, used some brads to hold it on the back and a Tim Holtz snap to hold it on the front.

I then finished it off with some cream taffeta ribbon sprayed with a little glimmer mist to give it some added sparkle.

Ink: Pallette Noir, Pine Needles distress ink, Scattered Straw distress ink

LSC201 Sketch Book - I got to use my new Bind-It-All!!

Oh my! It has been a full week since I posted last!!! I did not get buried alive by the loads of gift wrap my kids demolished from their presents on Christmas. I just have been busy with all the holiday stuff that I am sure many others are busy with!! LOL!! :)

However, I got a Bind-it-all (BIA) for Christmas this year, and just could not wait to put it to use!!! So, I decided to create an 8"x8" sketch book. For the images, I used Innovative Stamp Creations About Me set. To create the swirled background I used glossy paper and three different brown colored alcohol inks along with some gold additive. I then stamped the ornate image and the sentiment with craft black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder (I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure all the images lined up correctly). I then colored some plain grunge board with some white acrylic paint and covered that with some more gold alcohol ink. Next, stamped the pen image with black craft ink and embossed again with clear powder, cut it out, and popped it up with some glue dots. I then added the red swirls, which are from the Rustic Artsy Swirls set with some ruby red craft ink and embossed them with some more clear powder.

I used some Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon along with some fun gold and brick red ribbon to dress up the black bind. Then, I finished it off with a Zutter's antique gold perfect closure where I dyed the leather strap with black alcohol ink to match the black accents on the cover.

Wow! The BIA is just way too much fun to use! I am sure I will be finding all sorts of things to bind in the new year! Speaking of the new year...I hope that everyone has a save and happy New Year's Eve, and a fantastic New Year!!

Blog Candy Alert!!! You say it's your Birthday...

da na na na na na...Its my birthday too, yeah! So if you can not tell from the title and first line of this post...today is my birthday!! In honor of my big day, I have made a card, and have also decided to give away some blog candy (for more deets on the blog candy, read below).
First, I made this card for day 2 of paper craft planet's 12 days of Christmas challenge. The images are from Innovative Stamp Creation's Marvels of Nature II set. Love this beautiful bird! I embossed everything on this card with white embossing powder. I was totally inspired to do this card while sitting at Starbucks this morning...thier new holiday cups are red and white, and when I saw the white bird on the top of the cup, I knew I needed to do something similar on a card with this image! As I stated earlier, the bird is embossed with white, and then cut out and popped up on dimensionals. I layered the base of the card with some Bella Rose DSP and I tore the corner of it to expose the embossed floral background.
I then added the sentiment with more torn edges, and some white taffeta ribbon across the bottom. I finished off the card with a fabulous Tim Holtz Grungeboard flourish inked with some ruby red craft ink.
This is the first time I have used grungeboard, and I am in love with it!! So much so that I ran back to my LSS and bought a package to give away as BLOG CANDY!!! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post through Wednesday, December 3rd, and I will randomly choose the winner on Thursday the 4th! You will receive a package of Tim Holtz Elements Grungeboard which has the dots texture and 94 different shapes to use!! A picture can be seen below.
So that being said! Good luck, and happy birthday to ME!!!! :)
