SC226 & WT216 - You are the Potter

I made this card for yesterday's SC226 (which I LOVE) and today's WT216 - to use basic black on your card!

For the image, I used Our Daily Bread Designs, You are the Potter set. I actually won this set on the last blog hop...how fun it that!! I really do love this image, it is so very fun to color. I decided to color it with some of my copic markers, and then sponged the white with some Tea Dyed Distress ink. The DSP in background is from my Old World stack, and everything is layered with a bit of black to make everything pop!! The card is then finished off with some black brads.

Hope you have a great day!

CC216 & FTTC13 - Bleeding Hearts

This card was made with two challenges in mind...the color challenge over on SCS - old olive, real red, and basic black. and FTTC13 which is this wonderful sketch from Cindy Haffner that you can see here.

I started out by coloring my image from Flourishes Spring Ephemerals set with my SU markers (real red and old olive). Once the image was stamped, I cut out the circle, along with the black mat, with my creative memories circle cutter. For the squares in the background, I used some Teresa Collins DSP cut with my label #1 nesties. The sentiment is from the flourished word stamp set which was punched out with my small and large oval punches. I then distressed all of the edges with my Tim Holtz distressing tool, and sponged everything with a bit of old olive ink. I finished off the card by popping the sentiment on a bit of black satin ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Happy Mother's Day AND...Happy KSS Monday!!!!

I have some very EXCITING news to share with all of you today! Maria, the owner of Kitchen Sink stamps, has asked me to join the Kitchen Sink design team!! I am just so thrilled to be part of the crew now! What does this mean? Well, every Monday is Kitchen Sink Monday, so check back here on Mondays for some new Kitchen Sink creations!

Okay, now...on to my first official Kitchen Sink creation as a crew member. I decided to created this Mother's Day card...my mom requested that I create a card for her to give my Grandmother. Well, since my Grandmother's favorite flowers are Tulips, I knew just the set to use! I am just soooo lovin' this multi step Tulip Garden set! I went with red tulips by using ruby red and riding hood red, and for the greenery, I used kiwi kiss and old olive.

Once I finished stamping the images, I wanted to give them a watercolored look. So I used the blurred watercolor technique. For this technique, all you do is take an aqua painter, or your favorite watercolor brush slightly damp, and then go over your image. This will make your ink bleed just a bit to give you that watercolored look!

To finish off the card, I added some riding hood red ribbon and half pearls. Finally, I added the sentiment which is from Kitchen Sink's Whole Family set.
Be sure to check out the rest of the crew's cards/projects for today!

Have a great day, thanks for stopping by!

SC225, CTD39 & StampinB's - Happily Ever After!

This card is a triple threat as far as challenges go! The sketch is from this weeks SC225 at SCS, the color combo is from this week's Color Throwdown #39 - Basic Black, Barely Banana, Real Red, and also StampinB's second challenge which was to use die cuts.

When I saw today's Color Throwdown challenge, I knew I wanted to use this Ever After set from SU! I got this set when it first came out and have yet to used it! I really thought that is heart image went well with some old real red DSP from SU also, so that is where my card got it's start!

For this week's StampinB challenge, we were to use die cuts...I don't have many except for my nestabilities...so out I pulled label #1...I thought the lines on these nesties would work nicely with this image!

To finish off this card, I added the three square SU fire brads, some black satin ribbon, and put the sentiment on a small round tag dangling from my knot.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Paper: Basic Black, Real Red, Barely Banana, Very Vanilla, Real Red DSP
Inks: Real Red
Accessories: Circle Punches, Nestabilities - Label #1, Black Satin Ribbon, Black eyelet, Black twine, Fire Rhinestone Brads.

FTTC12 - Lovin' Acetate!

Today is another Timeless Tuesday challenge over on the Flourishes blog, and today's challenge was to use acetate on your card. I decided to give the acetate and tissue technique another try, and let me tell you every time I do it...I just love it!!

There is a great tutorial on this technique over on SCS, and I followed it pretty closely. The only different I did was to use Tim Holtz Adirondack alcohol inks instead of the SU reinkers used in the tutorial. I first stamped the image in black stazon directly on the acetate. I then turned the image over and added the alcohol inks. To apply the inks exactly where I wanted them, I used an Adirondack alcohol ink applicator. For the flowers I used eggplant, for the leaves I used lettuce, and for the background I used a mixture of denim and cool peri with a bit of blending solution to lighten it up. Once it was dry, I applied some crystal effect and then smoothed the crumpled tissue paper over the back. I had a scrap of the background left over so I used it for the sentiment also, which is covered with a designer label silver hodgepodge hardware.

I really wanted to add a bit of purple ribbon to this card too, however, I really don't have much in the line of purple since it is not a color I use often. So out came my trusty white satin ribbon, and SU elegant eggplant reinker, and I dyed the white ribbon purple! I thought it turned it very close to the elegant eggplant paper accents on the card. However, my fingers are another story, LOL!!! To finish off the card, I added four small crystal brads from my SU pretties kit.

I really do like the look this technique gave this wonderful violet image...it is kinda like an abstract watercolor!

Have a great day!

Connie

MOJO83, OCCC, CT0409 - I Love Recycling!!

This card was made for a combination of challenges. First the sketch is this week's Mojo Monday sketch. Next both this week's OCC challenge and this months Dare to be Dirty challenges are to use "earth friendly" recycled products on your card. Also, this week's OCCC is sponsored by Innovative Stamp Creations!! If you play along you get a chance to win the set I used on my card today called Natures Silhouette II! How fun is that! Oh, and as I posted below, you can save 10% on your ISC purchases by using code apr09 - good through this Friday, April 24, 2009!!

I was brainstorming this morning on what I could as my recycled product on my card, and as I poured out the last bit of my crispy rice cereal, and went to go recycle the box, I thought "duh", use the box as all the kraft colored layers on a card! So....that is exactly what I did! You can see a picture of the back side of all the layers I used as kraft, and also the beautiful bird that is popped up on the main panel!

The bird was stamped in craft black ink directly on the kraft side of the cereal box, and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The sentiment was also heat embossed, and flower silhouette was stamped around the sentiment in not quite navy.

I absolutely LOVE this weeks Mojo Monday sketch!! It is great for showing off some beautiful DSP...for my card I used some SU Bella Bleu paper. For my scalloped edge I used SU's eyelet border punch. I then finished off the embellishments with some kraft colored taffeta ribbon also from SU!

Inspired Soot Stamping

I just LOVE this set from the current SU mini called Sense of Time! As soon as I got this set, I knew I wanted to try this clock image with the soot stamping technique. You can check out the tutorial for soot stamping over on SCS. However, I will try and explain quickly how to do it.

Basically, what you need is a piece of glossy paper. Light a candle and then hold the piece of paper, glossy side down, over the open flame so that you get the soot from the flame on the card stock (be very careful not to get too close and catch your paper on fire..yes, I am speaking from experience...LOL!!) Once you have the soot all over your paper, take the image you want to stamp (in this case it is the clock image) and press it into the soot covered card stock...be very careful not to touch the soot with anything else...it will come off very easily! Once you have stamped your image, you want to spray your image with an acrylic clear coat to set the image, and you are done!

For my layout, I decided to use a card sketch from Mojo Monday - Mojo77 - from last month...I thought it would be perfect with this round clock image. The DSP is from SU. I distressed all of the edges on the card, and to finish it off I added a bit of black twill.

ssnotime83 - Threaded Blessings

I made this card for ssnotime83 - where we were to do some threading on our card. For my card, I added small eyelets all in a row and then threaded the chocolate taffeta ribbon through the holes.

The beautiful image is from Our Daily Bread Design's Flourished Christian Symbols set. I heat embossed both the image and the sentiment with white EP on kraft paper. The circle portion was cut with my creative memories circle cutter. The background DSP is from SU's Parisian Breeze, and the card was finished off with a few crystal brads from my SU pretties kit in the corner.

Thanks so much for visiting today!

SC224 & CTD38 - Faux Bleached Nature

Okay, I decided to try the color throw down challenge for the first time today, and also combined it with SC224 from SCS. Today's throw down challenge was ruby red, baja breeze and going gray...very fun!!

I got this inspired by nature set from SU's convention last year and really have only used it a few times, so I decided that today was the day to pull it out again. I also thought this image would be a perfect to use with one of my favorite techniques...faux bleaching. There is a great tutorial for this over on SCS, but I decided to make a little tutorial for this card today using SU reinkers instead of the Adirondack Color Wash used in that tutorial (mainly because I don't have any of those...yet, LOL!!).

First emboss your image with clear embossing powder. I had to laugh at my self when I stamped my images with my versamark...they came out a yucky tan color...looks like it is time for me to get a new one! However, that yucky color made it easier for me to take a picture for you to actually be able to see the versamark. hehehe!

Once the image is heat embossed, mix a few reinker colors with a little bit of water in a small misting bottle...the less water you use the more vibrant the color will be. Then spray the reinker/water mixture directly over your clear embossed images (blotting off any excess ink if needed).

When your image is slightly dry, sandwich it in between two pieces of copy paper and iron with your craft iron. You can see from this picture, that after a bit, the clear EP is transferred onto the top piece of copy paper.

Now you have completed the technique and are ready to put it on your card. Pretty simple, just lots of steps! :)

To finish off my card, I stamped the grass images on the baja breeze base, sponged the edges, and then layered some Urban garden DSP and going gray card stock that was both punched with the SU eyelet border punch. Next, I punched two slits on either side of my image, and added some riding hood red taffeta ribbon. Finally, I added the sentiment on the corner with my small, large and scalloped oval punches.

Card Details:
Images: Inspired by Nature, Fancy Flexible Phrases
Paper: Baja Breeze, White, Going Gray, Urban Garden DSP
Inks: Ruby Red and Baja Breeze reinkers, Baja breeze, Going Gray, a very dirty versamark :)
Accessories: Slit Punch, Eyelet Border Punch, Riding Hood Red Ribbon, Sponges, Clear EP, Heat Gun, Craft Iron, Mini Misting bottles.

FTTC11 & SSnotime82 - Paper Pieced Flourish

I made this card for both FTTC11 - where we were to paper pierce on our creations and SSnotime82 - where we were to have something hanging on your card.

I got this paper piecing template from Bazzill Basics Paper a while ago and have been waiting for the right time to use it. When I saw this weeks FTTC, I know it was the perfect thing for my card!

I also knew I wanted to combine this challenge with SSnotime's challenge this week, and when I put the gray ribbon on this card, it just screamed for a dangling crystal bead!

For my main image, I stamped it in palette black, and then shaded the white sweet peas with a gray copic and copic blender pen. I also colored the greenery with a very pale green copic.

I had every intention of having this card be a CAS card, but as you can see I veered from that a bit! It really just seemed to be screaming..."sponge the edges in gray" to me...so I did! LOL!!

Card Details:

Paper: Basic Gray, Going Gray, Whisper White
Inks: Palette Black, Copics
Accessories: Paper Piercing Template, Crystal bead, Gray Ribbon, Sponges

New Innovative Stamp Release Today!

Innovative Stamp Creations is releasing three new stamp sheets today, and you can save 10% on your ISC purchases by using code apr09 - good through April 24, 2009. How fun is that!! You can view the three new sets by clicking of the links below:

Over the last three days, I have shown you some cards made with each set, and today, I have two more cards to share with you.

This first card uses Birch Tree Paintings. This card is pretty simple and self explanatory, but I feel this image is so dramatic it does most of the work for you! I stamped the tree, tall grass butterfly, and sentiment with palette black ink on confetti cream paper. I then embellished with some riding hood red ribbons original and stick pen and beads both from SU.

The second card is from the Nature Silhouette II sheet. Here I used the Acetate & Tissues technique. You can find a tutorial on how to do this technique over on SCS. To start my card, I stamped the flower image with stazon and flipped it over. I then added some crystal effects over the whole back side of the image, and dropped some new Cool Peri alcohol ink all over the back, sprinkled some light blue pearl-ex and then spread it all around with a small paint brush. I then took a wrinkled piece of white tissue paper and spread it over the glue, trying to get all of the bubbles out, but leaving some of the wrinkles. Once it was dry, I was able to add it to my card.

For the base of my card I sponged some flourished with a new Tim Holtz mini mask with brilliant blue ink. The DP is from Teresa Collin's Family Matters collection called Family Home. I then heat embossed a couple of the pretty little butterflies from with set with black craft on some brilliant blue card stock. Next I cut them out, placed the larger one at the top of the card, and the smaller image on a Tim Holtz mini clip, which is clipped to a piece of basic gray taffeta ribbon. To finish off the card, I added the sentiment.
I am so in love with all three of the sets released this month from ISC...be sure to go and check them out!!

Happy Easter! Dainty Daisies 3x3 box set

For my last Innovative Stamp Creations sneak peek, I am excited to show you a 3 x 3 card set with Dainty Daisies, which will be available tomorrow!!

For my 3 x 3 cards I cut the base 3 x 6, folded it in half and then ran it though my big shot with the 3" label 1 nestabilities (which is also available from ISC). I then layered it with kiwi kiss and rounded those corners, and then ran a piece of white card stock through the big shot with the next size down lable 1 nestie.

Once I had all the pieces cut, I began stamping the five different cards in my set. Each of the images are stamped with palette black in, and then colored with copics. I then distressed the edges of the white layer with scattered straw distress ink. I also added one of the small daisies to the corner of each 3 x 3 envelop and distress them with scattered straw ink. To finish off each of the cards I added one of Tim Holtz mini clips tied with some kiwi kiss ribbon.

Next I made this small square box (which measures 3 1/4 x 3 1/4, and is 2" tall) with kiwi kiss for the base and acetate for the top. Then I added some So Saffron ribbon to secure the top of the box to the base.

Card Detials:

Paper: So Saffron, Kiwi Kiss, White, Acetate
Inks: Black Palette, Copic, Scattered Straw Distress Ink
Accessories: Tim Holtz Mini Clip, So Saffron Grossgrain Ribbon, Kiwi Kiss Ribbon

ISC - Nature Silhouette II

Here is another sneak peek for this month's Innovative Stamp Creations release which will this Monday! The set that I used for this card is called Nature Silhouette II, and it has some very pretty images!!

To create my sunset background, I use some alcohol inks...lemonade and peach bellini. which are brand new..and for the ground I used caramel. I masked each portion of the background off, added some ink to my applicator and sponged it on, starting with the lightest color.

Once I got the background I was looking for, I stamped two of the images from Nature Silhouette II in craft black ink covered it with clear embossing powder and heat embossed them. I also heat embossed the sentiment which means "Thinking of You" in English, and then added a new ornate plate from Tim Holtz over the sentiment. To finish off the card, I added a bit of saffron ribbon originals from SU!

Card Details:
Images: Nature Silhouette II - ISC
Paper: Basic Black, So Saffron, Glossy White
Inks: Alcohol inks - lemonade, peach bellini, caramel, Craft Black
Accessories: Tim Holtz Ornate Plate, clear EP, So Saffron Ribbon Originals

LSC215 - ISC Birch Tree Paintings

This card is for LSC215 - Triple Play Hosted by my good friend, Wendy - here are the rules:

1- Your card can have three layers (excluding the base)

2- You can use 3 colors plus a neutral. I used baja breeze, old olive, chocolate chip, and white.

3 - You need to have 3 elements on your card as focal points. Mine are the stamped images (which are from a new set that will be available April 13th from Innovative Stamp Creations called Birch Tree Painting), the sentiment and the wonderful new Tim Holtz photo corner.

To create my scene, I colored the tree image with my old olive and chocolate chip markers. I then sponged the ground with more old olive and sponged the clouds with some baja breeze. The sentiment panel, has also been sponged with some baja breeze.
So I posted this card to the challenge on SCS, and now I am posting it here, and I just realized that I also used a bit of so saffron for the butterflies...*gasp* I actually used one to many colors...hmmm....let me try and justify...LOL!! I only used a tiny bit of both so saffron and baja breeze so that should only count as one color.....OR I could say that both chocolate chip and white are neutrals, so they both should not count...anyone buying this...LOL!! Oh well, so sorry Wendy, I will do better next time! :)

Card Details:
Images: Birch Tree Paintings
Inks: Baja Breeze, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron
Paper: White, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Sponge for clouds and ground, Tim Holtz Photo Corner

SC223 & FLLCAPR - Paper Pieced Easter Basket

I made this card for SC233 and for FLLCAPR - where we were to paper piece our image. Yep, I paper pieced the grass, eggs and flowers on this image, which is Signs of Spring from Flourishes. Not sure why I decided to paper piece such small pieces, but I thought it was a good idea at 5:45 this morning...maybe that is why. LOL!!

Anyway, I stamped the Easter basket image first on the white piece of card stock. Then I stamped it again on Kiwi kiss, almost amethyst, so saffron, pretty in pink and bashful blue DSP. I then cut out the various pieces...grass, eggs, & flowers and glued them onto the white image. I then colored the basket and vine with my copic markers.

I followed the SC233 layout and added the yellow dew drops and saffron ribbon to finish the card. This may have taken for ever to paper piece, but I sure do like the outcome!

Card Details:

Inks: Palette Black
Paper: Whisper White, So Saffron, Perfect Plum, Bella Rose DSP, Pretty in pink DSP, So Saffron DSP, Bashful Blue DSP and Almost Amethyst DSP
Accessories: Yellow Dew Drops, So Saffron Ribbon Originals

TLC215 - Potted Tulips

I made this card for TLC215 - to make a Flower Pot Pocket Card. You can see a quick tutorial on how to create this flower pot over on Stephanie Luman's blog.

So, I went to Walmart the other day and walked by the flowers, and they had a BUNCH of my favorite flowers there...Tulips!! I decided to let the kids pick out which color to get, and was shocked when they both agreed on some that look just like the tulips in this card. Which is, of course where I got my inspiration.

The tulip images are from Kitchen Sink Stamp's Multi Step Tulip Garden set. I stamped the 5 flowers with so saffron, apricot appeal, cameo coral and regal rose...I know...the colors do not sound like they would go together, but that is what I finally came up with to match the beautiful tulips that are in my kitchen right now. For the greenery, I stamped them with kiwi kiss, old olive and always artichoke. I then cut the flowers out along with their greenery, and then I added even more stamped leaves to fill up my pot. I then finished the inside of the card by sponging the edges of the white layer with kiwi kiss and added a bit of kiwi kiss ribbon to the bottom of my stems.

For my pot, I used really rust to try and recreate a terracotta pot. I scalloped the edges with SU's eyelet edge scallop punch. and added the so saffron ribbon and bow. To finish off the card I added the sentiment to the base of the pot!

Card Details:
Images: Multi step Tulip Garden, Sentiment is from 3 step Hibiscus
Paper: Really Rust, So Saffron, Kiwi Kiss, White
Inks: So Saffron, Apricot Appeal, Cameo Coral, Regal Rose, Kiwi Kiss, Old Olive, Always Artichoke
Accessories: Kiwi Kiss Ribbon, So Saffron Ribbon

My Baby Turned 3!!!!

Well, it is official...my youngest turned 3 yesterday! Whaaaaaaa! They grow soooo fast! It was no question as to what themed b-day party we were going to have for him this year. EVERYTHING revolves around Disney Cars in our house. I can not tell you how may Lightning McQueen's he has, along with MANY of Lightning's friends!

I went to the party supply story the other day to get the plates, napkins, table cloth, etc. and was going to buy the invites too because I could not find a Lightning McQueen rubber stamp. As I was looking at all the fun things they have to offer for a Cars party, I came across a bag of large confetti which had lightweight cardboard cut outs of all the characters, which included two different McQueen poses...I immediately though...Oh I can make a cards with those!!

I came up with two different cards, one for an invitation, and one for a thank you. You should have seen my DS's eyes light up when I show them to him!!

First, the Invitation. For this card, I simulated a full race track and had Lightning move back and forth on the bottom of the race track with a little pull tab. To create the tab, I just used my window punch, and attached McQueen to a penny (which is behind the racetrack) with a dimensional. I then attached the other side of the penny to a black strip of card stock for the pull tab. I stamped the sentiment with the You're Invited stamp from Hugs and Wishes. The inside is also stamped with the time/place/date/rsvp stamp from the same set.

For the thank you, I simulated a portion of the race track, and created a spinner card. If you have never done a spinner card before, there is a great tutorial over on SCS, which you can find here. Since you can view the tutorial over on SCS, I will not go into huge detail on how I created this card. I just made sure to punch the window punch to follow the curve of the racetrack, and then trimmed a bit so there were not sharp corners for McQueen to have to turn! LOL!! The sentiments for this card were computer generated and popped up with dimensionals.

I had so much fun creating these. I just hope that later in life, my DS will look at these and appreciate and love them as much as I do....LOL!!

Card Details:
Images: Hugs and Wishes
Paper: Real Red, Basic Black, Garden Green, Summer Sun, White
Inks: Markers for dots...Real Red, Garden Green, Brocade Blue, White Gel Pen, Basic Black
Accessories: McQueen Confetti Pieces, Pennies, Dimensionals, Creative Memories Oval Cutter

SC222 - Happy Mother's Day!

I made this card for SC222...such a fun sketch! I chose Innovative Stamp Creation's Delicate Rose as my image today. For the main image, I stamped the it with palette black and colored it with copics. I then added a bit of Tim Holtz scattered straw distress stickles. The edges of the image and sentiment have also been sponged with Tim Holtz scattered straw distress ink.

For the bottom background panel, I started with two new light alcohol inks (Lemonade and Peach Bellini) along with some pearl mixative, and sponged it over a piece of glossy white paper. I then stamped the rose background image with mustard adirondack pigment ink, covered it with clear embossing powder and then heat embossed it.

For the top panel, I stamped a piece of barely banana card stock with ISC's Little Specks background stamp in scattered straw distress ink, and also sponged the edges with a little more ink.

To finish off the card, I added some kiwi kiss ribbon and a few rhinestone brads!

Card Details:
Images: Delicate Rose, Little Specks - ISC
Paper: Barely Banana, Kiwi Kiss, White, Glossy White
Inks: Lemonade and Peach Bellini Alcohol inks, butterscotch adirondack pigment ink, Palette black, copics, scattered straw distress ink
Accessories: Rhinestone Brads, Kiwi Kiss Ribbon
