Our Daily Bread Three for Thee Challenge!

Our Daily Bread Designs is having a challenge this month to make a Pocket Card!!! I just LOVE pocket cards!! I decided to do a spin on the double pocket card. You can see a tutorial for this type of double pocket card on Barb Mullikin's Blog!

For my card I started with some Parisian Breeze DSP, and folded it into the pocket card base, and rounded the corners. The image and sentiment on the front of the card are from the new Get Well Set I heat embossed both the image and the sentiment with brown craft ink and clear embossing powder, and sponged the edges with some baja breeze ink. I then embossed the image again, cut out and colored the butterflies with copics and popped them up on top of the original stamped image. The sentiment is layered with the new Labels 9 Nestabilities. I then finished the front off with some hero art half pearls, and some white satin ribbon.


The inside of my card has the double pocket portion of the card. On the left hand side, I added some more layered Labels 9 Nestabilities so I can write a little note to the recipient. I also added some more white satin ribbon across the whole inside of the card.


The tags were created using two of the wonderful and encouraging verses in this set. I rounded the corners, sponged the edges, added a large light blue eyelet and some white satin ribbon. As with the front of the card, these verses are also heat embossed with clear EP.

TLC215 - Potted Tulips

I made this card for TLC215 - to make a Flower Pot Pocket Card. You can see a quick tutorial on how to create this flower pot over on Stephanie Luman's blog.

So, I went to Walmart the other day and walked by the flowers, and they had a BUNCH of my favorite flowers there...Tulips!! I decided to let the kids pick out which color to get, and was shocked when they both agreed on some that look just like the tulips in this card. Which is, of course where I got my inspiration.

The tulip images are from Kitchen Sink Stamp's Multi Step Tulip Garden set. I stamped the 5 flowers with so saffron, apricot appeal, cameo coral and regal rose...I know...the colors do not sound like they would go together, but that is what I finally came up with to match the beautiful tulips that are in my kitchen right now. For the greenery, I stamped them with kiwi kiss, old olive and always artichoke. I then cut the flowers out along with their greenery, and then I added even more stamped leaves to fill up my pot. I then finished the inside of the card by sponging the edges of the white layer with kiwi kiss and added a bit of kiwi kiss ribbon to the bottom of my stems.

For my pot, I used really rust to try and recreate a terracotta pot. I scalloped the edges with SU's eyelet edge scallop punch. and added the so saffron ribbon and bow. To finish off the card I added the sentiment to the base of the pot!

Follow the Butterflies

My dear friend, Wendy (Wendybell on SCS), put a challenge on her blog a few days ago asking people to join her in her "follow the butterflies" quest by making a pocket card with butterfly images on it. Some background on her "follow the butterflies" quest, she gave herself a challenge to make 1 butterfly card a week for 2 years to send to her oldest son who is out of the country on a mission. She has made it just over one year, so she is half way there! You go girl!! (and happy b-day again!!...today is her birthday! :))

Anyway. she had turned her example pocket card on its side and I really liked that, so I kept the layout that direction. The images i used are from Kitchen Sink Stamps 3 step butterfly - for the first step I used pumpkin pie, then followed with tangerine tango, and then finished up with chocolate chip. I then cut the image out and popped it up with a dimensional. For the smaller butterflies on the panel inside the pocket, I only did the last two steps for that image and used pumpkin pie and tangerine tango. I tore the flap edge, and fastened it down with so saffron brads. Then for the sentiment I used SU's warm word, and punched it out with my oval punches.
