SNTODBD17 - Emboss Resist!!

It is time for Stamping In Time on Assignment Challenge(SNTODBD17)! The assignment is to use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps. The challenge this time is a technique. We are challenging you to the Emboss Resist Technique! You can use any of the ODBD images for your technique or you can come up with creative ways to incorporate ODBD frames, sentiments, and scriptures into the technique design. We would love to see what you create using ODBD images!

For my card, I have used the three of the new sets released from ODBD just yesterday! The sentiment is from the set Peace, which is surrounded by the Brocade Borders. I then created the background with the Brocade Background set by using the Emboss resist Technique with clear embossing powder, and Baja Breeze ink sponged over it.

The sketch for this card is from Sketch Saturday ..love this sketch! to finish off the card, I layered some satin brown ribbon and dyed seam binding, and added three little roses from Zva Creative.

For some more inspiration, you can check out some of my fellow DT members blogs!

Thanks so much for visiting today! Have a great day!!

KSCC14 - Going Green with an Old Book

Yep, the first Monday of the month means another wonderful Kitchen Sink Crew Challenge. This week's Challenge is hosted by Lynn McAuley! She want us to Go Green by Reducing, Reusing, or Recycling. Take some previously used non-stamping item that is headed for the trash can and turn it into a component in your Kitchen Sink project either as a layer or embellishment of some sort! Trash to Treasure so to speak! You can view all of the details on this challenge, over on the Kitchen Sink Stamps Blog!

Such a fun challenge Lynn!! I was completely inspired by a card on KAT's blog. Love the look of the old book with emboss resist. KAT used acrylic paint for her emboss resist, and to tell you the truth...I could not get it to work for me. So my resist is with Walnut stain ranger distress ink.

I started by heat embossing my flourish image which is from KSS Backgrounds and Borders set with versamark and clear embossing powder, directly on top of a page from an old book. I then took my Walnut Stain Distress ink pad and rubbed it directly over the old page until it was fully covered. I then took a piece of paper towel and rubbed the ink off my embossed flourish. I then tore the edges of my page to give it an even more distressed look. It is layered on a piece of Parisian Breeze DSP, and Baja Breeze card stock, which have both been distressed and sponged with some frayed burlap distress ink.

The butterfly, which is from KSS 3 step Butterfly, is stamped with soft sky, baja breeze, and not quite navy. I then cut it out and popped it up just above the flourish with a dimensional. The sentiment is from the KSS Whole Family set. I stamped it in Walnut Stain Distress ink on another piece of the old page, and distressed it even more with a bit of frayed burlap distress ink. To finish off the card, I added a few antique brass brads in each of the corners.

I just love using different things in my card, that you may not normally use...feels good to do a bit of recycling too!! Now go check out what the other Crew members have conjured up with week!!

WT202 - Pattern Pizzazz

Boy that is just a fun word...Pizzazz!! :) Well the challenge today was to jazz up some regular DSP. I chose to sponge and mask over some Parisian Summer DSP with a Tim Holtz flourish mask. I placed the mask over a piece of DSP and then sponged it with some pink pirouette ink, and voila you have just given an already pretty piece of DSP some more pizzazz!

I decided to pair this masked DSP with one of my new Our Daily Bread sets I got last week called Flourished Christian Symbols. I took another piece of the Parisian Summer DSP and embossed the dove with some white embossing powder. I then mimicked the sponged/masked background and sponged a little bit of pink pirouette over the embossed dove to make it stand out more. (I also did the same steps with the sentiment). I then kept with the sponging theme and sponge all of the edges of the card with a little more pink pirouette. I then finished the card off with a little bit of white taffeta ribbon.

Rustic Artsy Swirls Scrapbook Page

Sorry I have not posted in a while, I have been feeling under the weather the last couple of days. :( I am finally feeling better, so there is an end in sight!! I did get to stamp a little bit during this time though...one of my friends is the manager of the dialysis department at a local hospital, and a lady in upper management is retiring. They are having each department put together a scrapbook page for her to remember them by. She called me and asked if I would help. I said...sure what are friends for!

When she got to my house I asked her how big the page was supposed to be and she said 12X12...then I asked for the pictures she had, and she said she did not have any...apparently the lady retiring really does not know her staff, so she just wanted to say "thank you" for all the years of service she provided, on behalf of her staff. Okay, so my challenge was to fill a 12x12 page with no pictures...bring it on...I guess...LOL!!

I asked her if she had any ideas...she said no...so I had her look through some of my stamp sets and some of the cards that I have done lately, and she really loved this card and asked if I could do something like this. She especially like the stamp set and the color combo, so this is what I came up with:

I used the Rustic Artsy Swirls stamp set from Innovative stamp creations. I started with a white glossy 12x12 piece of card stock and embossed the swirls with clear embossing powder for the border. I then brayered the whole page with Baja breeze. Next, I layered a Tim Holtz flourish mask on either side of the page and sponged over that with taken with teal (you can see it in the picture if you look very closely).

For the butterflies, I stamped them with craft black on whisper white paper and then embossed with more clear embossing powder. I then colored them with some copic markers, and cut them out. I printed the "thank you" out from my computer and cut it with my creative memories circle cutter and layered with some scalloped nesties. Both the sentiment and the butterflies are all popped up with dimensionals.

Finally, I added the red satin ribbon across the top. As you can see, I did not stray much from the card since she really like it (and the cold I had...actually still have...was blocking my creative juices. LOL!) I kinda like the way it turned out...I am not much of a scrap booker at this stage in my life. Hopefully I will have more time in for it in the near future!

CC196 - Enjoy!!!

This card is for CC196 - Baja Breeze, Taken With Teal, Riding Rood Red (or in my case real red) and Whisper White...a very fun color combo!!
Today's card was made with Innovative Stamp Creation's Rustic Artsy Swirls. I began with a piece of whisper white paper, I embossed the swirls with clear embossing power. I then brayered baja breeze over that. Next, I took the Tim Holtz flourish mask placed it on portions of the card and sponged the card with taken with teal.
For the butterfly image, I stamped the butterfly in basic black on some extra whisper white that was brayered with baja breeze. I then colored some portions with a teal copic marker, and popped it up on a dimensional.
To finish off the card, I added some red grosgrain ribbon. Then, punched the sentiment with my small and large oval punches...added the silver hardware.

CC194 - Fall Inspired

I made this care for CC194 - Really Rust, Going Gray, Very Vanilla (on in my case Confetti Cream).
The flower image, and the mosaic background image are both from Innovative Stamp Creation's About Me set. To create this background I first stamped the flowers in versamark on a piece of confetti cream paper. I then head embossed with clear embossing powder. Next I sponged Really Rust over the entire piece, and rubbed off the excess ink on the embossed flowers. Finally I stamped the mosaic background in really rust over the whole image, and again rubbed off the excess ink from the stamp.
To embellish the card I decided to use some very vanilla taffeta ribbon, however it looked a little too white up against my clear embossed flowers, so I sprayed the ribbon with some Glimmer Mist Aspen Yellow fine glitter spray to age the ribbon a bit. I then added the antique brass brad in the middle of my ribbon treatment. Finally I stamped the sentiment in really rust on confetti cream and sprayed it with a little more of the Aspen Yellow glimmer mist. I then punched it out with the small and large oval punches and popped it up with a few dimensionals.
This was really a fun fall color combo, just in time for Thanksgiving. However, as you can see I had a though time squeezing the going gray in there, but it IS there!!
