ODBD October Release Blog Hop!

Hello and welcome to Our Daily Bread Designs October Release Blog Hop! If you have arrived from Dawn L.'s blog, then you are in the right place. If not, please head on over to the ODBD blog to start the hop off! :)

For today, I am showing you a card with the newly released With Deepest Sympathy set. I just love this image...I also LOVE to color, but sometimes, I know an image like this can be very intimidating to color, so I thought I would show a wonderful technique you could use with this image WITHOUT coloring it! Soot Stamping!! I just love this technique! If you have never done it before, there is a great tutorial on this over on SCS.

Once I stamped the image, I tore the edges and sponged both the torn edges and the DP with a bit of ranger tea dye distress ink. The sketch is from this week's MMSC21. I then finished off the card with a bit of caramel ribbon and a black pearl stick pin from Maya Rodes.

No on to the blog hop deets: Three of the DT member's blogs along the way have blog candy...the catch...no one knows who has the candy...even the DT!! So in order to have a chance at the candy, you need to comment on all of the blogs along the hop. Once you are finished with the hop you need to head on over to the ODBD Blog and leave a comment saying two things: 1. That you have visited and commented on each blog on the hop, and 2. What you liked best about these new sets! The hop will close Friday, October 2nd at 6:00 pm EST, and the winners will be announced on the ODBD blog on October 3rd!

You may be asking...what is the candy?? Store Credits...that is what!! A $5.00 Store Credit, a $10.00 Store Credit, and a $20.00 Store Credit! These credits will be for any merchandise in the Our Daily Bread Designs Store! Wahooo!!! Love free stuff!!

Now, head on over to the next stop on the hope Angella C...so head on over there now! Also, Just in case there are some broken links on the hop...I'll give you the next few links on the list after Angella: Debi then Becca!

Thanks so much for visiting today! I hope you have a wonderful day!!

Inspired Soot Stamping

I just LOVE this set from the current SU mini called Sense of Time! As soon as I got this set, I knew I wanted to try this clock image with the soot stamping technique. You can check out the tutorial for soot stamping over on SCS. However, I will try and explain quickly how to do it.

Basically, what you need is a piece of glossy paper. Light a candle and then hold the piece of paper, glossy side down, over the open flame so that you get the soot from the flame on the card stock (be very careful not to get too close and catch your paper on fire..yes, I am speaking from experience...LOL!!) Once you have the soot all over your paper, take the image you want to stamp (in this case it is the clock image) and press it into the soot covered card stock...be very careful not to touch the soot with anything else...it will come off very easily! Once you have stamped your image, you want to spray your image with an acrylic clear coat to set the image, and you are done!

For my layout, I decided to use a card sketch from Mojo Monday - Mojo77 - from last month...I thought it would be perfect with this round clock image. The DSP is from SU. I distressed all of the edges on the card, and to finish it off I added a bit of black twill.

Innovative Stamp Release AND SALE!!

Yep, the new releases from Innovative Stamp Creation's are here! The release consists of four new stamp sheets and a new background sheet! I have given you all a sneak peek of the sheets already last week, but have made all new samples for you today! Oh, and how exciting is this...the following new stamp sets are all on SALE until Friday 13, 2009!! Check out the reduced prices for these four sheets:
She's so Sweet
Precious Kitten
Men of Wisdom
Delicate Roses
Also, received 3 FREE word-stamps with the purchase of Little Specks Background size: 5x6

Let's start with the new Delicate rose sheet. LOVE these beautiful roses! WOW!! For this card, I used the rose background inked in red stazon and stamped it on a piece of acetate. The bottom pink pirouette piece is stamped with the new Little Specks background stamp. The rose image is colored with copics, and the card is finished off with some red satin ribbon, and the circle punched sentiment.

This next card uses the Men of Wisdom stamp set...this set is just perfect for the men in our lives!! For this card I used the soot stamping technique, which was a perfect technique for ssnotime73 negative stamping! A tutorial of this technique can be found here. I have never done this technique before, but have to say, it is soooo very awesome! I just love the aged look it can give a card!

The next sheet I used is the Precious Kitten sheet. For this card I used some Raspberry Tart DSP for the background panels, along with some gray and pink ribbons. This adorable image was colored with copics, and I sponged the background with a bit of going gray.

The final sheet I have to share with you is called She's So Sweet, and sweet she is!! For the image, I paper pieced her dress and hat with almost amethyst DSP, and the flowers with so saffron DSP. I colored the rest of the image with some copics, and then added the sentiment with the hardware, ribbon and stamped the Little Specks Background on the base.

I just love the versatility of all these images! They are just so very fun!
